Volunteering Opportunity: VO61702
Befriender and Telephone Befriender with Fife Carers Centre.
Created/last updated: 24/08/2020
About this opportunity:
Fife Carers Centre befriending project is design to support/befriend unpaid adult carers who are socially isolated or lonely, to unable carers to offload/offer a listening ear that breaks out their week from caring role which at the times may be very demanding •
Very often they have nobody to talk to and you may be the only person they hear from during the week •
Particularly at these difficult times where there are restrictions on social contacts it is very important to carers to have someone to talk to keep themselves in a good mental health and to be able to carry on with the caring role •
We offer full training and group meetings (online at the moment) to all volunteers who would like to become telephone befrienders (that may lead to the face to face befriending in the future) • We recommend that befrienders give one phone call a week (for about 30 minutes – up to 1 hour) •
Please do get in touch if you’re interested • No experience needed
