About this opportunity:
Loneliness and social isolation is one of the major problems facing many older people in our communities - would you like to help improve that situation in your area? we're looking for volunteers to visit older people in their homes to provide friendly social contact and help them to maintain their independence • Tasks may include - providing regular, friendly social contact - carrying out safe, warm and well checks, - practical help such as port office/prescription collections, assisted shopping, care of pets and/or occasional help in home, help in accessing transport, helping the older person access other services if required •

Out of pocket expenses paid?
Yes - 45p per mile or public transport (receipt required). They are also covered for other out of pocket expenses such as car parking and any snacks while waiting at hospitals etc.
Volunteers must be caring, sympathetic, patient, honest and reliable individuals with good communication and listening skills.
