    About this opportunity:Falkland Palace and Garden welcomes over 44,000 visitors every year and there’s something here for everyone, from the Palace with a working Chapel Royal, apartments for kings and queens, stunning gardens, an orchard and the oldest tennis court in the country
     •  As a shop volunteer, you will play a key role in helping to maintain Falkland’s heritage for everyone
     •  All sales from the shop go directly to the property, so if you’re interested in meeting people from all over the world and helping out a charity with its vital conservation work, then volunteering at Falkland Palace may be perfect for you
     •  Main Duties: • To welcome visitors and ensure they have a pleasant experience • Assisting customers with their purchases and advising them about items for sale • Upselling items in the shop • Processing till and credit card transactions, and reconciling these at the end of the day • Maintaining the presentation and display of the shop area • Positively promoting the National Trust for Scotland to visitors and customers within the shop • Opening and closing the shop as appropriate

    Training provided:Generally, you’ll be working with a small team of other volunteers and shop staff. We’ll provide an induction and training for you (about the Trust, its values and your role) to get started, and we’ll help you to keep learning while you’re volunteering with us. You’ll also have free access to all of the courses in our online e-learning system.

    Experience required:No specific experience required. Though confidence in handling money would be desirable, training will be provided. Prospective volunteers should have a friendly, outgoing personality and possess a willingness to learn and engage with visitors from all backgrounds and cultures.

    Restrictions on who can volunteer
    No restrictions, though the shop may prove challenging to those with mobility issues as there are steps leading down to the main shop floor from the street.
