    About this opportunity:Equal Voice is looking for volunteers who might have an hour or so a week to give to change the life of a vulnerable person in Equal Voice brings together local volunteers and vulnerable people

     •  Whether it’s supporting someone through a challenge or meeting up for a chat
     •  Simply sharing a coffee, enjoying a catch-up that reduces loneliness and builds confidence can make such an incredible difference
     •  No special qualifications are needed and there’s no set amount of time required – it’s all about what you can offer – just an open mind and a caring heart

    Training provided:Everyone taking on the role of a Citizen Advocate is invited to complete an Advocacy Preparation Course, which provides an induction to the principles of Advocacy. Including the definition and importance of Advocacy, the role of an Advocate in supporting individuals and the Equal Voice guidance for Advocates.

    Experience required:The most important qualities for a volunteer Citizen Advocate are empathy, reliability, and a genuine interest in people and their individual needs. They don't need any special qualifications – just a kind heart, be a good listener and have the confidence to give a voice to a vulnerable person who is not being listened to or cannot speak up for themselves.
