  About this opportunity:	Individual client needs can be wide and varied  •  Volunteers may find themselves supporting clients by having a chat over a cup of coffee or accompanying them to their first session of a new group  •  Volunteers can also get involved in FIRST's Groupwork activities  •  The volunteer, client and FIRST staff member work closely as a team to address the issues identified within the Action Plan  •  Volunteers are required to meet regularly with the FIRST worker and provide clear updates in relation to the progress of the client  •
  Takes place:	mornings afternoons evenings Mondays Tuesdays Wednesdays Thursdays Fridays Saturdays Sundays
  Minimum age:	none specified - most organisations will work with volunteers aged 16 and over
  Maximum age:	no upper age limit has been specified
  Training provided:	Comprehensive training offered over two full days and continued on-going support. Regular support and supervision sessions will also be held if matched with a client.
  Out of pocket expenses paid?	Yes - Mileage rates at 45p/per mile. Expenses are paid on a monthly basis.
  Experience required:	The volunteer needs to have a genuine desire to work with individuals with substance misuse issues who are trying to change their lifestyle.
  Restrictions on who can volunteer	Individuals who have previously had an issue with drugs and/ or alcohol should be two years abstinent before applying

  Travel Details	At a time to suit both the client and the volunteer. Volunteers who do not have their own transport will be matched with someone locally who can be reached by public transport.
