    About this opportunity:Royal Voluntary Service (RVS) volunteers have been supporting their communities since 1938 by offering vital services and practical help to local people in need of a little extra support
     •  This includes supporting their community cafes
     •  As a Community Café Volunteer, you will get to support older people to remain independent and stay connected to their communities
     •  Volunteers transform the lives of people with dementia, by helping to enable them to take positive steps to connect to their community and reduce their isolation
     •  This role includes setting up for the café preparing refreshments and chatting and offering companionship to people
     •  Volunteer with a friendly team to help RVS run their local café You will get some hands-on customer service experience, grow your skills and chat to staff and visitors

    Training provided:The volunteer will be volunteering with a team of volunteers and staff who will support the volunteer. Royal Voluntary Service has a training website available for all volunteers. There are also workbooks available to anyone without access to a computer.
    Out of pocket expenses paid?
    Yes - Volunteers can claim expenses incurred travelling to and from their duties. Drivers are re-imbursed at 45p per mile, they pay public transportation rates. Volunteers can claim weekly or monthly.

    Experience required:The volunteer will need to have a friendly personality and good communication skills, with a non-judgmental attitude towards an individual's circumstances and a willingness to ensure confidentiality. They will receive relevant training for the role and will be welcomed and supported by a friendly, local team.
