    About this opportunity:The main duties are to support the ward staff/activities co-ordinator in engaging with patients individually or in small groups to encourage positive communication and assist in maintaining patient's independence
     •  This is achieved through the implementation of meaningful activities, with an aim to minimise patient's stress and distress and improve their wellbeing
     •  Activities may include arts/crafts, singing low level exercise and simple games
     •  In addition to the above, volunteers can assist ward staff in the clinical environment by carrying out a range of non clinical tasks and activities to support the staff in the delivery of patient care

    Training provided:No experience is necessary as training will be given. Good listening and communication skills. Patience, understanding and sensitivity to the needs of patients in hospital and their relatives. To be reliable and punctual. Willingness to work without direct supervision. To be motivated in the volunteering activities undertaken. Ability to work independently and as part of the healthcare team. To liaise with nursing staff and medical staff as required.
    Out of pocket expenses paid?
    Yes - Public transport rates reimbursed. Mileage at 31p per mile. Claims can be made weekly or monthly.
