  • Dementia Friendly Glenrothes Report and Update

    Dementia Friendly Glenrothes have launched their year 1 report outlining all their work to date. 

    Dementia Friendly Glenrothes aims to build a community where:

    • people with dementia and their partners, families and carers are understood, respected and supported,
    • people with dementia can find their way around and feel safe,
    • people with dementia have equal access to local facilities - even if they may need a little support to do so,
    • people come together to learn about dementia and make some simple, practical changes that can make a huge difference to people living with dementia.

    Highlights of the project to date include having:

    • Approached 187 shops, businesses, services and community groups - out of these 48 have started to look at becoming Dementia friendly
    • 3 organisations become dementia friendly
      • Kingdom Shopping Centre
      • Glenrothes Foodbank
      • Aldi Glenrothes
    • Engaged with 40 people who are affected by Dementia to tell them about their experiences
