  • Book a visit from the Veterans' Project

Are you involved in an older persons’ club, group or service that would like to know more about extra support available to older veterans and their families?

With one in ten adults within Scotland belonging to the veterans’ community, and many of these adults older people, it is likely that your group already involves veterans and their family members in its activities.  However, the definition of who counts as a veteran is broader than is commonly thought, and consequently older veterans can be unaware of the support available to them and may miss out on their entitlements.

The Veterans' Project is a new initiative from Age Scotland that aims to boost health and well-being for veterans age 65 and older, and their families.

They can visit your group and deliver an interactive talk about how to identify ‘hidden’ older veterans and direct them to support they are entitled to. The project is part of Unforgotten Forces, a partnership of 15 leading organisations funded by the Aged Veterans’ Fund to deliver a range of new services and enhancements for older veterans in areas including advice, access to healthcare, social isolation and respite, along with creative activities and events for those in care settings. In their talks they will share what’s on offer from the Unforgotten Forces partners and how that can benefit members of the veterans’ community in your area.
