CCPS respond to Scottish Government Announcement on Living Wage for Overnight Support
Created: 20/10/2017The Coalition of Care and Support Providers in Scotland has published their response to the announcement from Health Secretary Shona Robison that the Scottish Government plan to guarantee workers the Living Wage for overnight hours.
Care workers will now be paid the Living Wage of £8.45 for sleepover hours, meaning the Living Wage will now be received for all hours worked.
The change is planned for 2018/19.
CCPS have applauded the intention behind the Cabinet Secretary’s decision to extend the Living Wage to sleepover hours. However, given providers’ experience of working to implement the commitment to date, they have very little confidence that it can be delivered successfully without significant unintended consequences arising.
