Wellesley Parish Church Gala Day plans are going full steam ahead and they would love to have your help.

They give their apologies to anyone who came to the church hoping to access their information sessions on Thursday 09 June 2016, as these were cancelled at very short notice. However, they would love to have your assistance on the day, there are lots of different opportunities available.

Please do get in touch! Contact details at the bottom of the page. They are working with Fife Voluntary Action so any young people between the ages of 12-25 who would like to volunteer will be accredited as part of the Saltire Awards.

Here is some of what they need - do get in touch if you would like to offer anything not on this list:

    • team of people to set up tables, chairs and other items in the marquees, this would be between 8.30am and 10am
    • team of people to clear away tables, chairs etc and all rubbish at the end of the day between 4.00pm and 5.00pm
    • team to help with washing dishes in the kitchen
    • team to serve refreshments and clear tables in the main hall
    • help needed on all stalls - including helping run any activities
    • stewards available all day to direct people and ensure no cars in the grounds
    • conducting questionnaires with the community - young people would be briefed beforehand -this is to identify what the community would like to see the new hall and church grounds used for
    • facepainters
    • help with set up and maintenance of sound equipment etc for Wellsleys Got Talent

In addition to this they would also appreciate help on an ongoing basis to cut the grass at the church, this is a large area and takes a lot of time, particularly clearing all the grass away. This will be needed particularly in the week prior to the Gala Day but at any other time too.

There is also scope to be involved in a gardening project at the Church longer term, as they're keen to put a group of volunteers together to clear out the Church ground space to use for community use, including food growing. They'll keep you updated on this.
