All employees have basic rights in the workplace. It is important to understand these rights and know what employers and employers are entitled to.
The aim of this session is to build the capacity of the employability sector in Fife to have a better understanding of employment rights for their clients. You will explore common issues that arise when people start a new job and know where to get help if things cannot be resolved easily.
This session will be delivered by Kathleen Bolt from Mediation Services Ltd. Kathleen is a solicitor and mediator specialising in employment an equality law and workplace mediations.
Kathleen will help participants to:
- Understand the relevance of employment rights to employability policy, services, and clients
- Understand basic employment and equality rights in the workplace and how these can support clients
- Discuss common issues that arise in recruitment, the first few months in a new job, or when life challenges arise
- Understand how to assist clients to consider the disclosure of personal information
- Understand core relevant workplace policies and procedures
- Understand how to signpost clients for help in the above areas
