  • Our Minds Matter Summer Residential Course

    Created: 28/04/2025
    News/Events Category: Children and Families

This two-day residential course is suitable for staff working across education, social work, Health and Social Care Partnership, and third sector services that provide mental health and wellbeing supports to children, young people, and families living in Fife. The free training with Suzanne Zeedyk from CAMHS and Barnardo's will take place at St Andrews University.

Participants will engage in a variety of workshops and activities during the two days which will include:

    Daring Ventures lite

They are delighted to include some of the content from the Daring Ventures course, which has been running in Fife during 2024 and 2025. At this years residential, they aim to bring a taste of this course where they will explore several of the concepts it covers, including the rupture-repair cycle, emotional regulation, attachment styles, and emotional boundaries. This learning should leave you feeling more informed about why emotional states drive behaviour, and how childhood experiences have shaped those emotional states.

Burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma

This workshop will provide an introduction to burnout, compassionate fatigue, and vicarious trauma, how they are different, and how to spot the signs in yourself and your colleagues.

    Character strengths for authentic happiness

Character strengths are about how we relate to other people and the world around us. This workshop will offer you the opportunity to discuss and reflect on your signature character strengths and think about ways you can build them into your life to cultivate happiness and benefit your work, relationships, and health.

    Staff wellbeing

There will also be an opportunity to participate in a whole range of simple, well-tested practices that you can use to support your own wellbeing. Over the two-day period you will have plenty of space to try out these practices and to consider new ideas related to them.

Finally, there will be ample time for discussion, reflection, and networking over the two days.

All meals are provided including lunch and an evening meal on day one, and breakfast and lunch on day two.

They are offering residential courses on two separate occasions:

    Session 1 - Thursday 17 and Friday 18 July 2025

    Session 2 - Thursday 07 and Friday 08 August 2025
