NHS 24’s Breathing Space is a free and confidential phone and web chat service available to anyone in Scotland aged 16 and over experiencing low mood, depression, or anxiety.

Celebrated annually on 01 February, Breathing Space Day aims to remind everyone to make time for activities which improve mental well being as well as promoting the service.

    How to access Breathing Space

Call 0800 83 85 87. The web chat service can be accessed from breathingspace.scot.

During the week the service is available 6.00pm until 2.00am.

At the weekend the service is available from Friday at 6.00pm until Monday at 6.00am.

For those experiencing mental distress, the 111 Mental Health Hub is available 24 hours a day, seven days of the week. There is no upper or lower age limit.

    Accessibility

All of NHS 24's telephone services use the interpretation service, Language Line, to support callers who cannot, or prefer not to, speak English. Language Line is private, confidential, and free to use.

You can also contact the helplines using the Relay UK app.
