  • The JOBS Project - 10-week course starting early February

    Created: 15/01/2025
    News/Events Category: Employability

The JOBS Project is a 10-week employability programme in collaboration between Amazon and Barnardo’s in Dunfermline.

The programme is open to young people aged 18-29 years old and starts week commencing Monday 03 February 2025.

The course will run three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) and consists of group work covering employability topics such as:

    • CV workshops
    • Interview techniques
    • Work-life balance
    • Worker’s rights

    The course also includes:

    • Wellbeing topics such as coping strategies, self-care, and stress management
    • Opportunities to gain qualifications such as a First Aid qualification and personal finance qualification
    • Volunteering opportunities to enhance CVs and build confidence
    • One-to-one support throughout the programme
    • Site visits to Amazon including talks from Amazon staff members

Depending on commitment and attendance there will be an interview with Amazon towards the end of the programme – this is a supported route into employment for those who may face barriers to accessing employment opportunities.

Course runners also look at alternative destinations such as college courses and other employment opportunities.

The course includes a training allowance of £60 per week. If someone is on Universal Credit, they will receive a £30 travel and lunch reimbursement instead, so as not to affect their Universal Credit payments.
