Working with Grief and Suicidal Ideation - Cruse Scotland
Created: 31/10/2024While grief involves emotional pain related to loss, suicidal ideation involves thoughts of ending one's own life - but in grieving clients, the two often overlap.
This session explores the unique challenges of working with clients who are grieving and express the wish to end their own lives. They will discuss strategies and tools to identify risk while supporting these clients in a compassionate and safe therapeutic environment. They will also explore the impact of your own experience around suicide and the emotional intensity of working with grieving and suicidal clients on you and your practice.
Health warning: As you would anticipate, the content of the course discusses themes of death, dying and bereavement. Before registering for this training, they encourage all participants to consider their individual wellbeing needs, particularly those who have recently been bereaved or consider themselves as actively grieving. Please also be aware that Cruse Scotland training courses are interactive and may include breaks into discussion groups. Considering this, they request that all attendees have their camera functionality switched on throughout the session.
