It is too late to book a place for this particular session, sorry about that.

FVA is hosting a Bairns' Hoose engagement event for the third sector. The event will provide an opportunity to update the sector on the progress of the Fife Bairns' Hoose Pathfinder project and hear about the research that was commissioned by FVA to explore the potential for third sector involvement in developing the Bairns' Hoose in Fife.

    • Mary Glasgow, CEO of Children 1st, will be a speaker at the event. Mary will discuss the experiences and learning Children 1st have had in their journey of piloting Scotland's first Bairns' Hoose
    • FVA will present the findings from the research that was undertaken to explore the potential of third sector involvement in Fife
    • There will also be an opportunity for discussion and questions, members of the Fife Bairns' Hoose Pathfinder project team will also be in attendance

    What is Bairns' Hoose?

Bairns’ Hoose is a model that Scotland is testing to provide holistic support to children who have been victims or witness to abuse, or are under the age of criminal responsibility whose behaviour may have caused harm. This is based on the European “Barnahus” (child house) model.

The Bairns' Hoose model brings together in one setting:

    • Child protection
    • Health
    • Recovery support/whole family support
    • Justice

The vision of a Bairns’ Hoose is that:

All children in Scotland who have been victims or witnesses to abuse or violence, as well as children under the age of criminal responsibility whose behaviour has caused significant harm or abuse, will have access to trauma-informed recovery, support and justice.

The Scottish Government has committed to develop test sites for delivery of Bairns' Hoose in Scotland, before scaling up nationally.

The Pathfinder projects will act as proof of concept for the Bairns' Hoose model in Scotland. Learning from the implementation of the Standards, alongside the roll-out of the Scottish Child Interview Model, will help provide a blueprint for a pilot of a national Bairns Hoose model in Scotland.
