  • Working for the Future - Report from the Institute for Employment Studies

    Created: 26/09/2024
    News/Events Category: Employability

Working for the Future - published by the Institute for Employment Studies - details the peculiarities of the UK's employment landscape since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The report notes that the UK is unique in the developed world in that employment has fallen rather than risen over the last five years, in stark contrast to the rest of the developed world.

The report states "Over the last five years, employment growth in the UK has gone into reverse. While employment has risen strongly across the developed world, the UK is almost unique in seeing employment fall. Overall, the share of people in the labour force is now the lowest that it has been since 1998, driven by fewer young people in work, more older people out of work and more people off with long-term health conditions."

Read more here to find out what the report notes and recommends as the final chapter of the Commission on the Future of Employment Support.
