    The Ecology Centre offers volunteer positions to individuals who may face difficulties in accessing employment or who require work experience, gain confidence as well as to enhance their future career prospects.

    The mission is to provide direct, hands-on experience with the environment in a way that is both educational and enjoyable. They aim to foster an inclusive environment where people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds can come together to learn about and contribute to the conservation of our natural world and the impact it can have on our society.

    The Centre offers a range of volunteer roles designed to be accessible and to meet the varying needs and interests of our participants. The volunteer roles include, (but are not limited to):

    • Garden assistant
    • General gardening
    • Grounds maintenance
    • Tools restoration
    • Café Assistant
    • General Office support
    • Education support (through interview process)
    • Woodwork

    Through the Centre's programmes, volunteers have the opportunity to:

    • Gain valuable work experience in environmental conservation, estate and woodland management, education, sustainability and hospitality
    • Improve their confidence, self-esteem, and teamwork abilities in a supportive, nature-based setting
    • Enhance their mental health and well-being through regular engagement with the natural environment

    The Centre also offers Forest and Outdoors Leadership Awards (FOLA) courses to anyone over 16. This is part of our Forest Schools which offers an inspirational learning process through holistic growth regular sessions. Qualified practitioners facilitate play, exploration & supported risk taking to build confidence and self-esteem in an outdoor setting.
