    The Which? Fund offers grants to support research projects aiming to improve understanding of the specific consumer harms experienced by diverse and disadvantaged communities, and to develop evidence-based solutions to tackle these harms.

    The Which? Fund offer grants to support work aiming to:

    • Improve understanding of consumer harms affecting diverse and disadvantaged communities, including novel harms in digital markets
    • Identify and test evidence-led, pragmatic solutions to consumer harm
    • Develop partnerships and encourage collaborative working to provide a more powerful voice for all UK consumers

    There are two funding calls:

    1. Projects exploring consumer harms experienced by diverse and disadvantaged communities

    • Ensuring fair financial services
    • Fighting consumer rip-offs
    • Enabling consumers to make sustainable choices 
    • Ensuring fair and safe digital goods and services

    2. Projects exploring consumer harms experienced by diverse and disadvantaged communities in digital markets

     

    Fund award sizes

    Annually awarded: £75,000

    Notes on award amounts: No stated amounts given.

    Who can apply

    • Registered charities based in the UK
    • UK universities
    • UK not-for-profit Community Interest Companies

    Exclusions

    • Individuals
    • Unregistered charities
    • For-profit organisations
    • Organisations that don't meet the eligibility criteria as laid out in the guidance webpages
    • Projects providing direct support to individuals, for example existing community projects
    • Retrospective funding

    How to apply

    There is a two-stage application process:

    • Stage 1 - Outline application
    • Stage 2 - Full application

    The closing date for applications is 5.00pm on Monday 16 September 2024.
