Online High screening - a film made by young people, for young people
Created: 02/09/2024
You are invited to attend the screening of Online High, a specially created film that illustrates drug dealing amongst young people through communication devices, which reflects recent social media trends and drug-related harm.
Online High was made by young people, for young people, and concerns the devastating effects of drug sales and misuse.
National Records of Scotland (NRS) recently published data for 2023 revealing 1,172 people died as a result of ingesting drugs, which represents a 12% increase on the previous 12 months, the highest death rate for drug ingestion in Europe.
About Online High
PC Scott Morgan led Dunfermline Police Scotland Youth Volunteers, who partnered with YouthLink Scotland (NKBL) and Barnardo's Substance Use Education Team, to devise an education pack for young people that shows the devastating effects of online drug distribution and the downward spiral into criminality.
The education pack is not location specific and can be used in any school, youth club, or community setting in Scotland to educate young people about the consequences of drug dealing and misuse.
The Screening
Safer Dunfermline will launch this awareness-raising initiative at the screening of Online High at the Odeon in Dunfermline.
