    Post: Personal Assistant

    Hours: One-hour block introduction visits after school to begin with and over time building up to 5 hours per week, weekdays, or weekends. The working pattern to be negotiable with the ideal candidate.

    Salary: £14 per hour

    Location: Markinch

     

    A Personal Assistant is sought to provide support to an 11-year-old boy, with learning disabilities and complex needs (primarily around language, communication, and understanding). The candidate will have experience and understanding in supporting individuals with complex disabilities, and experience in managing and supporting emotional and behavioural needs would be advantageous.

    Supporting him to participate with social and educational activities at home, and after school. Offering him support to access groups and activities in his community once a trusting relationship is established. The client enjoys various activities including playing with vehicles, interest in emergency service vehicles/workers, Lego, rollercoasters/theme parks and roleplay. He has a love of characters in movies such as Buzz lightyear, Wallace & Gromit, and Monsters Inc.

    Other activities he enjoys range from dancing, music, cinema visits, swimming (1:1 with an adult – has just passed his level 1 badge), playing in the park, traveling on public transport, and helping with garden chores. He is a happy and sociable boy and can guarantee plenty of fun and laughs. Outwith school he currently attends a local primary after-school club with his siblings.

    A knowledge of children or be a carer/have childcare experience with special needs adults/children would be an advantage. A proactive, caring, fun and nurturing attitude is required. It is worth noting that he has a lot of energy, and the successful candidate should be able to keep up! Applicants should be a driver and non-smoker.
