Lunchtime Learning - Volunteer Friendly Award
Created: 24/08/2023FVA lunchtime learning sessions are aimed at raising the skills and capacities of local service providers interested in improving or enhancing their provision in Fife.
Volunteer Friendly Award is a Scotland-wide quality standard and development tool that is user-friendly, to support, develop, recognise and reward groups/organisations who are good at involving volunteers.
The Scottish Government recognises that volunteering matters and it’s all about new experiences, feeling good and making a difference. The evidence base is clear on the benefits of volunteering, in terms of: Physical health benefits, social benefits, mental wellbeing and instrumental benefits. It has never been more important for groups to be able to show how good they are at involving and managing their volunteers. We believe regardless your group/organisation size or set up you should be supported, rewarded and recognised for the difference your volunteers make in Fife.
Volunteer Friendly will be a key award and development tool in the quality pipeline. Volunteer Friendly is based on the national UK standard Investing in Volunteers (IiV), designed for small groups/organisations who may not be ready to undertake IiV.
IiV has recently gone through a UK review, since August 2020 Volunteer Scotland has been working in partnership with TSI’s to review and develop Volunteer Friendly, to keep links with IiV, define volunteer practice for Scotland, reflect current changes and tends in volunteer practice.
Sign up to this session to find out more about how you can be supported to achieve your volunteer friendly awards, how it operates in Fife and what’s involved for your organisation.
