    Contract: Until March 2025, with an extension to follow depending on continued funding
    Salary: Up to £33,000 per annum, depending on experience
    Hours: 37.5 per week, usually Monday to Friday. Some flexibility around evening and weekend work is required. Job-sharing arrangements will be considered.

    NEFCH is seeking a passionate, inspirational leader to implement the vision of the Hub and to grow the services offered in line with local needs. 

    NEFCH is expanding. Established in 2018, its aim is to promote community development by providing a safe meeting space and one-stop shop for everyone, including those in need because of age, ill health, disability, financial hardship, and/or other disadvantage.  It operates from St David’s Centre, Albany Park, St Andrews, and manages a Community Café, the Clothesline clothes bank, and a community fridge.

    It also hosts the Storehouse St Andrews food bank and other social and wellbeing groups with significant external funding. It is now expanding to develop a sustainable Food Hub for North East Fife, distributing to local community projects, and reducing food and fuel poverty through the Community Recovery Project.

    Role purpose:

    • Management of existing NEFCH building, projects, staff and volunteers;
    • Establishment and management of the new Community Recovery Project;
    • Management of NEFCH Community Café;
    • Working with the Board of Directors to develop and achieve strategy, plans and targets;
    • Working with the local community to identify and meet relevant needs and to promote the services available;
    • Ensuring long-term sustainability through sound business planning;
    • Fundraising, timeous reporting to funders, and financial management;
    • Supporting the Board of Directors in fulfilling its governance responsibilities - overseen by the Board of Directors, and with appropriate delegation to the Hub Café;
    • Management of the Administration Officer and other relevant staff and volunteers.

    Duties of the post include

    • Managing and maintaining the building (St David’s Centre and any other assets) ensuring that these are safe, compliant with legal requirements, relevant policies and procedures and good practice, and suitable/accessible for NEFCH’s purposes;
    • Scoping, developing and implementing systems for and establishing the new Community Recovery Project, including its budgeting within the funding available, creation of relevant new posts, and purchasing of the resources required;
    • Ensuring the management and development of the Community Café in terms of:
      • ordering/procuring consumables and overseeing stock;
      • meeting and greeting clients;
      • preparing and serving food and drink;
      • maintaining a clean, welcoming and safe environment;
      • supervising other staff and volunteers who are engaged in these activities;
      • recruiting, training, and managing staff and volunteers, including needs assessments, appraisal, and rota management;
    • Developing and ensuring adherence to all relevant policies, procedures and guidelines, and updating these as required.
    • Ensuring that NEFCH has an effective administration process to manage its business on a day-to-day basis.
    • Financial management:
      • preparing and submitting organisational reports and budgets, including the business plan;
      • implementing procedures for the maintenance of financial controls and records, including payroll, banking and day-to-day accounting;
      • monitoring financial performance against agreed budgets and grants;
      • revenue generation to allow continued working of NEFCH in fulfilment of its aims and vision including -letting and hiring of spaces, grant applications and other business opportunities.
    • Implementing and maintaining IT systems for NEFCH, including those for financial and communication management.
    • Communication, marketing and promotion:
      • working with staff to develop and maintain the NEFCH website and social media presence, newsletters for partners and the local community;
      • ensuring NEFCH materials are accessible as appropriate;
      • marketing the facilities to potential renters, hirers and funders;
      • representing NEFCH at external meetings, including giving talks on our work.

    As a term of your employment, you may be required to undertake other duties within your agreed hours of work. The main duties listed above will be reviewed regularly with the post holder who will be subject to regular performance review.
