The Integrated Employer Engagement Team from the Capital City Partnership would like to invite you to participate in the Green Economy Jobs Sectoral Awareness campaign.

The Team has updated their recent announcement about the campaign - as below:

"Scotland is on a green journey.  To achieve ambitious climate change goals, we need to work together across all sectors to create a workforce with the required skills and understanding of sustainability.

Last month, ESES City Region Deal launched a 'Green Economy Jobs Sectoral Awareness Campaign' delivered by the Integrated Employer Engagement Project.

Its aim is to demystify the Green Agenda and to inform and encourage everyone to think about the impact they can make within their own career choices.

We worked with academics, business owners, employees and industry experts on a series of short films.

They explain the meaning of Green Jobs, by sharing real life examples and opinions on the Green Economy.

We invite you to watch our video and learn more about our campaign.

Share our passion and spread the message. Join us in making "smarter choices for a greener future!"

Please see more information from the Team on the Green Economy Jobs Sectoral Awarness campaign below:

"It is evident that worldwide awareness of the climate crisis we are currently facing is now very much on the increase. Governments are committing to largescale net zero targets, businesses are addressing their carbon neutral ambitions and mainstream media activity is focussing more on the green agenda.

As a result, all of us, will need to play a more pivotal role in this journey and commit to these aspirations too.

Over recent months, we, the Integrated Employer Engagement Team (find out more here) have been consulting with employers, jobseekers and partners on these matters and it seems that recurring messages are apparent. Although there is a strong willingness to do the right thing, get involved and promote green economy jobs and green skills, there is a lack of clarity on the definition of what these actually are.

Consequently, this is causing confusion and is considered to be preventing future employees and potential personnel from embracing this new terminology to proactively seek work or upskill in all things ‘green’.

We are therefore pleased to be launching our Green Economy Jobs Sectoral Awareness campaign with the intention of increasing levels of knowledge and understanding across the 6 Local Authorities involved in the Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Region Deal (Edinburgh, East Lothian, Midlothian, West Lothian, Fife and the Scottish Borders).

Our aim is to facilitate demystifying ‘green economy jobs’ and ‘green skills’ and promote these through the production of a helpful and informative video with a supporting suite of social media content depicting experienced and passionate individuals from across a variety of sectors.

You will see that all who feature, share their ideas, practices and involvement and how they, themselves, make a difference. They highlight, clarify and show in a simple manner, live examples of how these concepts can be embedded into everyday life, skills and careers.

Thus, we want to encourage everyone to consider the green agenda and these resources invite all to come and explore how they can all positively contribute – whether that be: when preparing to enter and apply for employment; through upskilling; or whilst performing within an actual job role itself.

We hope that these promotional tools will compliment any of your own related activities, training, courses and endeavours – or, in fact, any others you may be aware of which will help to inspire individuals to embark on a greener vocational journey.

We would therefore value your help in sharing these materials accordingly within your organisation and/or externally to employability colleagues, statutory partners and key networks as widely as possible.

In doing so, we hope to encourage more citizens to make smarter choices for a greener future!
