HSCP Care Academy update
Created: 09/05/2023The funded SVQ 2 Social Services and Healthcare Apprenticeship programme, initially planned for those aged 16 -24 to encourage youth development, has now been extended to include aged 25+ too.
The programme is funded via Fife College using credit allocation funding, which means there is a mandatory requirement for the apprentice to attend one day per week at college to build on their study. The college campus is still being agreed upon, and the assessors will host the weekly college day. All apprentices will be enrolled as full-time students; they will receive a student ID card which enables them to access Chromebooks for loan to help with study; they will be able to access student discounts for retail and hospitality venues; and they will attend a graduation event in November.
There are fifty places available for 2023/24. The plan is that the programme model becomes an annual intake.
The programme will commence in July 2023. The study programme will begin by selecting additional pre-SVQ credited modules that support skills-based learning development, including digital enabling, mental health resilience, trauma-informed practice, understanding professional boundaries, and building effective relationships. The apprentice will select some topics that suit their learning needs to enable them to gather sufficient credit before moving on to the SVQ 2 in August. The completion date for the programme is June 2024.
Recruitment of apprentices is subject to the employer’s usual recruitment processes and access to the programme comes through Microsoft Forms. Please do not apply via the main college webpage at this time as this will incur a fee payable by the employer. To reserve a place, please complete this form by 01 June 2023.
