    Created: 27/04/2023, Updated: 28/04/2023
    News/Events Category: General News

Applications are open for the funded SVQ 2 Social Services and Healthcare Apprenticeship programme. Originally planned for 16 -24 year olds, to encourage youth development it has now been extended to also include those aged 25+.

The programme is funded through Fife College using credit allocation funding, so there is a mandatory requirement for apprentices to attend one day per week at college to build on their studies.

The location of the apprenticeship programme is still to be agreed upon, and assessors will host the weekly college day.

All apprentices will be enrolled as full-time students and receive a student ID card enabling them to access Chromebooks on loan to help with their studies.  Students will also be able to access student discounts for retail and hospitality venues, and they will attend a graduation event in November.

Fifty places are available for 2023/24, and the plan is for the programme model to become an annual intake.

The programme will commence in July 2023 and will include pre-SVQ accredited modules that support the development of skills-based learning.

    Modules will include:

    • digital enabling
    • mental health resilience
    • trauma-informed practice
    • understanding professional boundaries, and
    • building effective relationships.

Apprentices will select some topics that suit their learning needs to enable them to gather sufficient credit before moving onto SVQ 2 in August.

The completion date for the programme is June 2024.

Recruitment for apprentices is subject to the employer’s usual recruitment processes.

Please do not apply via the main college webpage at this time, as this will incur a fee payable by the employer.

To reserve a place, please complete this form by 1st June 2023.
