Some call us the third sector
Some call us the voluntary sector

    We are the #EssentialSector

SCVO and partners - including us at Fife Voluntary Action - are planning to launch a widespread campaign in November 2023 to highlight the essential work of Scotland's third sector which changes people’s lives for the better, brings communities together, improves policy, and contributes to the economy. However, the work of the third sector, and the benefits it collectively brings, are constantly at risk if organisations and groups do not have the support and funding they need to thrive and survive.

The campaign launch will feature short video clips of real people, telling their stories in their own words to paint an inspiring and raw picture of the value and impact of the sector - to show the challenges the sector faces as well as its many achievements.

There is a unique opportunity for third sector organisations to apply to become one of eight organisations showcased during the launch of the #EssentialSector campaign. Organisations can apply to be within a chance of receiving support from SCVO to develop a bespoke video that highlights the story of your organisation and its work, impact, and successes. This support includes free filming training and editing as well as the chance to have your video launched as part of the #EssentialSector campaign in November.

SCVO and its partners aim to select a shortlist of organisations that shows as diverse a range of the sector as possible – different types and sizes of organisation, in different locations, doing different things, and with different stories to tell.

Applications can be made online here and must be submitted by 12:00 on 05 May 2023.
