    Created: 03/03/2023
    News/Events Category: General News

Career Ready is a social mobility charity that wants every young person, regardless of background, to progress to a positive post-school destination and prosper in work and life. Young people who face barriers in education and employment due to their socio-economic-cultural background are given the chance for their talents to be uncovered and potential fulfilled.

Working in partnership with employers and their employee volunteers, Local Authorities and schools, Career Ready provides targeted young talent in S5/6 with a structured, impactful, two-year programme which empowers, boosts social capital and develops work skills including:

    • A mentor from the world of work,
    • A four-week paid internship with the mentor’s organisation
    • A series of skills masterclasses
    • Workplace visits

For over 10 years Career Ready has developed partnerships with employers of all sizes and sectors, delivering lasting benefits including the opportunity, resources and support to develop and build the talent pipeline.

Career Ready is endorsed by the Association of Directors of Education in Scotland and The Scottish Government as an example of best practice in employability transformation for young people and is a leading contributor to The Young Person’s Guarantee and Developing the Young Workforce.

    Timeline

Career Ready's next Fife Launch Event is scheduled to take place in November 2023. This means, Career Ready advisers and coordinators will need to confirm all mentors by the end of July 2023, to support the registration and PVG process. Matching will then take place in September/October ahead of students and Mentors meeting in November.

    Internship Funding

For Third Sector and SME organisations, who would love to support the Career Ready programme, by providing a Mentor and 4 week, full-time Summer Internship, but are concerned about covering the cost of the Internship, please get in touch. We might be able to help.

    Contact Career Ready
