A systems-based approach to physical activity in Scotland: A framework for action
Created: 21/11/2022Public Health Scotland has published a report on A systems-based approach to physical activity in Scotland: A framework for action at a national and local level.
The report was informed by a series of evidence-driven workshops, attended by 80 stakeholders, from 47 organisations in Scotland with a role in the creation of a more active Scotland.
The publication provides a pragmatic system-based approach to increasing population levels of physical activity in Scotland and is underpinned by the core principles of public health and systems working. It includes an outcomes focussed framework detailing a wide range of evidenced, system-based actions across multiple sectors and settings, including active places of learning, active health and social care, active travel, active places and spaces, sport and active recreation, and active workplaces, which will reduce inactivity and enable more people to be physically active, as well as contributing to multiple cross policy outcomes.
The report is accompanied by a short animation that summarises the approach detailed within the report.
