    News/Events Category: Training and Learning

    When: 09:30 - 10:30, Monday 21 November 2022
    Where: MS Teams
This event is being organised by The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service
This particular event is free to attend, so no payment is required.

It is too late to book a place for this particular session, sorry about that.

This training, delivered by The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, is to highlight the main causes of fire in the home and the risk groups more likely to suffer unintentional harm through fire. It will help practitioners to be aware of these fire risks when visiting client’s homes. Services and safety equipment that the fire service can offer will be covered. The new Scottish Government smoke alarm legislation will be looked at including the implications this has for us all. Lastly, and most importantly, instructions will be given on how to refer clients for a Home Fire Safety Visit.

    Learning outcomes:

    • An understanding of the most common causes of dwelling fires and risk groups
    • Awareness of fire hazards to look out for when visiting client’s homes
    • Details of services and equipment the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service can provide
    • Overview of the new Scottish Government smoke alarm legislation
    • Instructions on the referral pathway for requesting Home Fire Safety Visits

    Aims:

    • Increase staff awareness of fire risks in client’s, and their own, homes
    • Increase number of partner referrals for home fire safety visits
    • Increase the safety of the clients you work with
    • Reduce accidental harm from fire

The training lasts approximately one hour and takes place online via Microsoft Teams or in person if you have a location to use

The training is aimed at community-based staff, and their supervisors, who are entering client’s homes to provide their services

There is no cost for providing this training.
