  • Health and social care strategy for older people: consultation analysis

    Created: 27/10/2022
    News/Events Category: General News

The Scottish Government has published an analysis report of the responses received to the consultation on a health and social care strategy for older people held in 2022.

Out of a total of 127 responses, 87 responses came from organisations. Out of this 87, 34 were third sector organisations. We at FVA held an engagement event on this consultation in the summer and the feedback shared has been incorporated into this report.

    Next steps:

The Scottish Government will extend the timeframe for development of a Health and Social Care Strategy for Older People in order to take account of, and contribute to, the development of the National Care Service. This is especially important since the National Care Service (Scotland) Bill proposes including making provision for the establishment of care boards to carry out Ministers' functions in relation to social care, social work and community health.

The Government will continue to develop a new national strategy for palliative and end of life care and again the responses to this consultation will inform that strategy.
