Venture Trust - Impact report and new training available
Created: 28/07/2022, Updated: 29/07/2022Venture Trust has recently released their impact report on its Outdoor Therapy Service.
This service provides a supportive context for those struggling with past or present adversity or trauma to access therapy in a local community setting, featuring outdoor activities and training. This encourages clients as working outdoors allows them to access the varied benefits of working therapeutically in nature.
The report has this to say about its service delivery:
"12 weekly outdoor therapy sessions are offered initially. Clients are supported by a professional counsellor or therapist to explore their thoughts, feelings and behaviours so that they can better understand themselves. The natural space may act as a conduit for expressing their feelings, perhaps through metaphors or expressive creative activities. Sessions are delivered year-round and in a range of weather conditions. If a client requires more than 12 sessions, then these are offered by the therapist, with regular engagement with the client’s original referrer to ensure holistic ongoing support. As a part of the service, clients may be offered the chance to take part in group sessions alongside individual work."
Venture Trust has also recently released a training brochure for practitioners who working with vulnerable clients or clients with additional needs.
This brochure details expected learning outcomes for several fee-paying training courses on how to manage working with clients outdoors for client facing practitioners, which could include psychotherapists, counsellors, psychologists, art therapists, psychiatrists, psychoanalysts, social workers and so on.
