A just transition for Fife – participatory futures workshop with RSA and the Scottish Government
Created: 15/07/2022Meeting Scotland’s ambitious net zero targets will require rapid transformation across all sectors of the economy and society, affecting our jobs, the way we live, and the way we do business. The notion of a just transition was incorporated into the 2015 Paris Agreement as a way of signaling the importance of maximising positive social impacts of climate policies for workers and communities and minimising any negative repercussions.
In partnership with the Scottish Government, the RSA is holding a series of events across Scotland to explore how a just transition can help build a wealthier, healthier and fairer nation. At 09:30 - 15:30 on Saturday 23 July, the team is holding a workshop in Leven, Fife to explore how changes to the energy system could impact the local community. It will take place at The Centre,1 Broomieknowe, Leven, KY8 4QP.
The RSA wants to hear from a wide range of different people in the community and you don’t need to have background knowledge on the energy system to get involved. From more renewable electricity being produced by wind turbines, to a shift from gas boilers to heat pumps in our homes, at this event, you will explore how new technologies and societal changes are driving Scotland’s shift to net zero and collectively imagine positive visions for the future of your local area.
