Adult Support Protection: Interagency Guidance & Adult Case Conference Protocol
Created: 22/06/2022, Updated: 24/06/2022The updated Adult Support Protection (ASP) Interagency Guidance and the Adult Case Conference Protocol have been published and are now ready to access.
The Interagency Guidance provides a framework within which all those responsible for the support and protection of adults at risk, including third sector organisations, can operate effectively within the law while
also complying with their own agency requirements and guidance. Key chapters in the guidance include:
The Adult Case Conference Protocol allows relevant statutory agencies to convene a Case Conference in the circumstance where an adult is deemed to be at risk or poses risk to others and DOES NOT MEET the three-point criteria that define an adult at risk of harm. This procedure does not replace agency referral or legal process and should not be used as a referral shortcut or as an attempt to pass responsibility to a single agency.
Though this document is aimed at statutory agencies, we think it is valuable for third sector organisations to be aware of the support process in place for any adults that they support who don't meet the full criteria of an adult at risk of harm.
