  • Provision of allotments consultation

    Created: 12/05/2022
    News/Events Category: General News

The Local Government, Housing and Planning Committee is holding an inquiry into the provision of allotments as part of its post-legislative scrutiny of Part 9 of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 (“the Act”).  A wide range of community organisations and social enterprises provide gardening and food growing initiatives, and so the inquiry may be of interest to a number of your members if you would be able to highlight it to them.

The primary purpose of the inquiry is to assess whether the Act has achieved its aims of improving the availability of allotments and reducing barriers to accessing them.

It will also consider how communities are establishing allotments themselves and the community, health, educational and environmental benefits of allotments and community gardens.

The specific questions to which the Committee is inviting responses can be found here.

The deadline for responses is Tuesday 24 May 2022.

If you have any questions please contact the committee directly: [email protected]
