Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs is looking for a Family Support Assistant to join its team. This new post will support the delivery of Fife Family Support Service. This offers a range of family support and engagement for family members who are affected by someone else's substance use. The post will operate in partnership with NHS Fife Addictions Service, partner organisations, families and communities. The post has an area-wide remit and will work across three NHS Addictions bases in Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy and Windygates, along with some home working. This post is part of an expansion of our existing Fife Family Support Service, working alongside one existing and one new Family Support Development Officer posts. The post will be responsible for maintaining and delivering a range of support services in Fife to families and support groups affected by someone else's substance use, ensuring an effective response to the needs of support groups and evaluating and demonstrating the impact of our services. The post-holder will be expected to work some evenings and occasional weekends.
Due to the nature of this post, access to a car is essential. This post will be part of Scottish Families' staff team and be supervised by the Family Support Development Officer. We are seeking applicants who are educated to HNC level, have a vocational qualification (level 3) or relevant professional qualification, along with experience of direct client work, group work, facilitating or enabling the work of others and direct work with families. Applicants should have knowledge of issues for families affected by substance use and values underpinning advocacy. The team is seeking an applicant who can facilitate family support groups, and effectively and sensitively advocate for others.
