The Scottish Government has extended the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) and Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) fee waiver pilot scheme to 25 June 2022.

The scheme has been in operation since 14 January 2022 and aims to help attract more people into the social care profession.

For new applications to certain eligible roles the Scottish Government will cover the cost of:

    • PVG checks (PVG cost for new scheme members is £59)
    • First-time registration fees for the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) if the role is regulated by the SSSC (normal cost - at least £25)

If you work in social care, meet the conditions outlined here, and started working in an eligible role on or after 14 January 2022, please take the opportunity to register with SSSC.

PVG checks will be completed as part of the recruitment process.

Managers – please remind your staff of this initiative. Applications must be submitted by 25 June 2022 to benefit from this fee waiver pilot.
