Kirkcaldy YMCA is recruiting a Development Worker to manage its Talking Caf projects. This post is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and involves working closely with staff and volunteers in Kirkcaldy YMCA to develop and support Talking Caf's in both its main building and at the new Gallatown HUB. The Talking Caf project is based on the premise that; talking, food, social contact and trusted relationships are key ingredients to support people to improve their mental health and ultimately their opportunities for employment. The project focuses on conversation, promoting self-care, resilience, and confidence building via the caf model. Staff raise awareness/offer referral where required to specific health-supporting agencies, having established positive/helping relationships with the young people, they will disclose/ask for help, having confidence in the staff to do so.
The Talking Caf Development worker will, under the supervision of Kirkcaldy YMCA's management team to deliver all aspects of the work involved in the day-to-day running of the Talking Cafs. Educated to a minimum of HNC level, (youth/community work/ social work/ education) with at least two years experience working with vulnerable children, young people and families. A good understanding of mental health & wellbeing issues and youth/community work services will be essential. The post will involve out of hours working and candidates must possess a full driving license. This post is subject to an enhanced disclosure check through Disclosure Scotland.
