Carers Get-Togethers - Finding your voice as a Carer/Carer Representative (Voices training)
Created: 20/01/2022This is a training session for carers in Fife who might be interested in joining our Carer Get-Togethers and becoming a potential Carer Representative.
Our Carers Get-Togethers are a safe, inclusive, and informal space for carers in Fife who care about having their voice heard by those who make decisions on the things that matter most to them and the people they care for. You will join a group of like-minded carers to share your real-life experience of delivering care, your frustrations and hopes for the future, and contribute to the collective voice of carers in Fife.
This is suitable for all carers, regardless of age, background, or any other criteria - we want to hear for carers. It's a chance for you to not only contribute to real and significant change for carers in Fife but also for you to meet with other carers who are experiencing a similar journey to your own.
From this group, we will elect a formal Carer Representative (or Representatives!) who will attend local planning groups to represent the collective needs of carers and help improve services for carers and those they care for.
Fife Voluntary Action (FVA) is here to support the development and growth of both the Carers Get-Togethers and Carer Representative role, so we are planning a training session, delivered by experienced professionals, for anyone interested in joining the group that we think will help you to find your voice as a carer or potential Carer Representative. Please see more below.
Voices training:
Voices is a training package, developed originally by Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland, which will help increase your confidence and ability to effectively engage and communicate with health and social care professionals.
This three-hour training session will be delivered by accredited trainers, George Cuthill (FVA) and Judith Knox (Fife Alcohol Support Service) who will guide you through what to expect when dealing with professionals and how to find your voice as a Carer Representative.
This session will take place 09:30 - 12:30 on Friday 25 February 2022 at our office in Glenrothes: Caledonia House, Pentland Park, Saltire Centre, Glenrothes, KY6 2AL.
If you would like to discuss this training or anything else about the Carers Get-Togethers or Carer Representative role, please do not hesitate to contact Eloise Wilson (FVA Policy and Communications Officer) at [email protected] or call on 0800 389 6046.
