    News/Events Category: General News

The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) is running a suite of e-learning opportunities which are all free, easy to access and for jobseekers with sight loss, employers and colleagues, and employment professionals whose job involves helping people look for or stay in work.

The RNIB's online jobseeker course has been designed to help people with sight loss decide the next steps to take when thinking about employment, calling on the experience of professional employment advisors to put together top tips for a successful approach to looking for work.

The course has been tested by people with sight loss to make sure it's easy to use, addresses their job search queries and is fully accessible. Participants can choose to do the sections most relevant to themselves, or undertake the whole course, which takes about 50 minutes.

Understanding Sight Loss for employers and work colleagues talks about sight loss and its impact and introduces workplace responsibilities and interactions, inclusive recruitment, accessibility and assistive technology. It's a great way to introduce the topic of sight loss and work to your team and takes about an hour to complete. There's also an optional extra course showing you how to guide people with sight loss if they need help to get around.

If your job is about helping people with sight loss to look for or stay in work, then our free CPD certified E-learning, Understanding Sight Loss for Employment Professionals, is for you. So far, around 3,000 employment professionals have enrolled with excellent feedback about how useful learners are finding it in their work. The course is divided into sections, covering topics including facts about and types of sight loss, how these impact on people and things to consider when talking about jobs. There's no test to take. There's a completion certificate but no pass or fail. You don't need to do the course from start to finish in one go and can go in and out as many times and as often as you like. The full course takes about 40 minutes to complete.
