    News/Events Category: Job Vacancies

    Post: Community Activities Assistant

    Hours: Part-time - 16 hours per week

    Salary: £9.80 per hour

    Contract:  Fixed-Term - Three months

Location: Kirkcaldy with regular travel around Fife

Fife Migrants Forum (FMF) is a Scottish Charity founded by people experiencing migration, people from minority communities and local Fife communities. The agency was set up to offer practical support, information, advice, and advocacy to meet the needs of large numbers of new migrants coming into the area. The main areas of work concern employment, health, housing, welfare, and legal issues and the anxieties and fears people face, often with little understanding of English impeding their' settling in'.

FMF is growing its services, and is now looking to recruit a creative Community Activities Assistant who can help plan, organise and facilitate social and recreational activities and events, including education, employability, health, social and language support that will encourage community integration and connection. Your primary responsibilities will be to:

    • Assist in creating, organising, and facilitating entertaining, engaging activities that will appeal to all ages and accommodate the physical and mental condition of our beneficiaries.
    • Coordinate the logistics for daily, weekly, and monthly events, including communications, advertising, inventory, formats, health and safety, facilities management, materials, and volunteer resources.
    • Encourage beneficiaries to participate in activities that will improve their socialisation, relaxation, and recreation opportunities.
    • Observe participation during activities and events and seek feedback from attendees and beneficiaries.
    • Use attendee insights to improve the activities or the logistical processes continuously.
    • Carry out health and safety risk assessments, ensuring that all hazards are mitigated and that events and activities are always conducted safely and legally.
    • Work with and provide direction to volunteers, providing instruction and encouragement during activities and events.
    • Maintain records and registers of activities and plans.
    • Act as Fife Migrant Forum's activities point of contact in the local community, develop positive relationships, engage with external stakeholders and regulators, build trust and enhance the organisation's reputation.

Ideally, you will have a successful background in community development or events and activities management and will have enabled similar organisations to develop and grow their activities programmes. You will relish bringing people together and creating thriving, inclusive communities. You will have a clear understanding of how to support socialisation, education and employability with vulnerable community members, including children, young people and adults, ideally within international or ethnic minority settings.

If you are interested, please submit your CV along with a covering letter stating how you believe this role will play to your strengths to [email protected] by Friday 21 January 2022.

Once FMF receives your note of interest, it will e-mail you an application form and the full job description with return instructions. Interviews will take place in the week commencing 24 January 2022.
