    Post: Construction Inspector (Clerk of Works)

    Hours: 36 per week

    Salary: £30,592 - £33,919 per annum

    Location: Glenrothes

    Kingdom Housing Association (KHA) is the parent organisation within the Kingdom Group and is one of the leading providers of affordable housing in East Central Scotland. It currently develops affordable housing in Fife, Perth & Kinross, Falkirk and Clackmannanshire and have Alliance agreements with Ochilview Housing Association and with Fife, Glen and Ore Valley Housing Associations, through the Fife Housing Association Alliance (FHAA).

    KHA is looking to recruit a Construction Inspector to join its team.

    About the Role:

    You will utilise your expertise and skills within the Capital Investment team to ensure that the properties developed for KHA and its partners, whether for social rent, mid-market rent, or shared ownership, achieve the required standards in specification, method of construction, quality of work/materials and compliance with the agreed criteria for each contract. You will monitor sites from start to finish and provide effective quality and compliance observations/guidance throughout the process. You will be able to spot problems from technical data before the project has commenced on site but also identify and help to avert issues that arise during the construction phase. You will liaise with tenants and contractors to investigate defects issues, requesting remedial works as necessary, whether highlighted by our tenants or identified at end of year defect inspections. You will provide a high level of support to our Project Officers at relevant points, whether at site meetings or in the event a complaint has arisen.

    About You:

    You should be educated to HNC level, ideally with a qualification in a related discipline (SCQF level 7), or be able to demonstrate relevant technical experience. You must have knowledge and/or experience of house building trades and a good understanding of different construction methods. You will have an excellent knowledge of Health and Safety, Building and CDM Regulations. You should have a passion about quality within the construction industry, be an effective communicator with the ability to negotiate with key stakeholders. It is essential that you are able to collaborate with your colleagues and across the organisation. You will be well organised, have good IT skills with the ability to analyse project data effectively and be diligent in respect of maintaining records. You must have a driving licence and access to a car for business use. You will be required to complete a satisfactory Standard Police Act Disclosure Scotland check.
