Kirkcaldy YMCA delivers Inspiring Scotland’s Creative Communities programme as part of the Scotland wide portfolio of work.
Creative Communities launched in 2020, is a programme that aims to support and empower communities to develop cultural activities. Creative Communities forms a key part of the Culture Strategy for Scotland, and is based on the belief that cultural activity has broad, interlinked benefits for people and communities. These include but are not limited to: improving mental wellbeing, reducing loneliness and diversion from criminal behaviour.
Within the Creative Communities activity, crafting is offered and plays a key role.
The craft group is a place where people can come together and learn a new craft, or work on their own projects. It is a place where people can learn from each other but also have a chat over a cuppa.
Kirkcaldy YMCA is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Craft Tutor – a people person who has skills and ability to develop a wide range of crafting activities and who can enable people to design and co-develop the programme and identify activities collectively. Working hours will normally be daytime during weekdays but flexibility is required for workshops and events which may happen in evenings or at the weekend for which additional hours will be paid.
