Alzheimer Scotland Fife is delighted to announce that is now officially a Volunteer Friendly organisation after achieving the Volunteer Friendly Award, a quality standard they first achieved in 2016. The Fife team has worked hard to renew the award and prove that they are still a Volunteer Friendly organisation. Its team achieved this accolade for the way they involve, manage and support volunteers, following the five strands of the Volunteer Friendly Award standards.

The Volunteer Friendly Award is given for excellent volunteer management practice and Alzheimer Scotland Fife has had to provide evidence that they manage volunteers effectively, treat them fairly, train and support them in their roles, offer them the opportunity for personal development and celebrate the contribution they make to the organisation.

Overall, this shows their commitment as an organisation to involving volunteers in satisfying and rewarding roles.

Alzheimer Scotland is lucky to have an army of volunteers who all give their time selflessly to help make sure nobody faces dementia alone. There are so many ways to volunteer with the organisation, from supporting a community group, to cheering on Team AlzScot at a fundraising event. Whether you have minutes or months, your time will make a real difference to people living with dementia and their families.

Yvonne Georgeson, Alzheimer Scotland, Volunteer Co-Ordinator Fife, said: “I feel very proud to receive the Volunteer Friendly Award on behalf of the Alzheimer Scotland Fife Team, and the whole organisation. This is recognition of the importance of the volunteer service we provide and how much we value the support and commitment of our volunteers. With this nationally recognised quality standard in volunteer management, we can show funding bodies that we have good volunteer management practices in place too.

The Volunteer Friendly Award is a simple, user-friendly quality standard to support, recognise and reward groups that are good at involving volunteers. It has never been more important for groups to be able to show how good they are at involving and managing their volunteers. Volunteer Friendly helps you to take a systematic look at what you do and how you do it. It offers a flexible approach with full support from your local Third Sector Interface.
