Volunteer Management Course 6, Avoiding Legal Issues in Volunteer Management
Created: 14/07/2021, Updated: 16/07/2021
When: 10.00am-1.00pm, Thursday 25 November 2021 Where: Zoom Call, Anywhere with an internet connection, Online, KY6 2AL This event is being organised by Fife Voluntary Action This particular event is free to attend, so no payment is required.
We asked people who attended similar sessions earlier in the year, what they liked most about our training - here are some of their comments:
“Dividing people into smaller groups via the use of breakout rooms in Zoom went very smoothly and allowed us all to have a say in the given topic.”
“A lot of helpful information and tips for volunteer management. Good to hear from others and advice they had.”
“The case studies were interesting and made it a little easier to get my head around some difficult questions”
“All of the sessions were well facilitated; information was clear and the training providers approachable and informative.”
That volunteers are part of your organisation voluntarily is obvious, but do they ever feel an obligation to remain involved? Organisations therefore need to consider ways in which they may (consciously or unconsciously) be creating a 'contract' between themselves and their volunteers. This course will help you to identify any possible pitfalls and how to avoid them.
Included in the course:
• The difference between volunteers and other categories of people in an organisation
• The impact of the Equality Act 2010;
• The most likely areas of any legal challenge
• Issues to consider in your documentation, routines and recognition/reward
Who should attend
Anyone who has, or is expecting to have, responsibility for recruiting/managing volunteers in their organisation. Your organisation should be providing a service in Fife.
Cancellations can be received up to 5 working days ahead of the event. A cancellation will only be valid if we have confirmed it with you. You can send somebody else in place of a booked delegate.
Notes from the session will be sent to all participants who complete a post-training evaluation.
