Volunteer Management Course 4, Fair and Equal Volunteering
Created: 14/07/2021, Updated: 16/07/2021
When: 10.00am-1.00pm, Tuesday 26 October 2021 Where: Zoom Call, Anywhere with an internet connection, Online, KY6 2AL This event is being organised by Fife Voluntary Action This particular event is free to attend, so no payment is required.
We asked people who attended these sessions earlier in the year, what they liked most about our training - here are some of their comments:
“It was thought provoking, we discussed all sorts of things which we know are within us but understanding how to ensure we offer equality and diversity was a great session.”
“Made you consider issues round the topic.”
“Interaction and learning within the group, getting everyone's point of view”
“The break-out rooms where we had an opportunity to discuss diversity and equality. I liked the term 'fairness' which helps explain equality better.”
This course will enable you and your organisation to feel more confident in understanding the difference between equality and diversity. This can then enable your organisation to recruit volunteers who can potentially bring along a vast amount of varied skills and knowledge that may support the skill set that you already have as well as boosting the services you provide.
Included in this course:
• The difference between equality and diversity;
• What is meant by the 'protected characteristics';
• The benefits of promoting diversity in your volunteer team;
• Overcoming barriers/stereotypes;
• How we can support you.
Who should attend
Anyone who has, or is expecting to have, responsibility for recruiting/managing volunteers in their organisation. Your organisation should be providing a service in Fife.
In order to offer places to as many organisations as possible, we are only able to offer two places on each date to members of the same organisation. If your organisation would like to send more than 2 people, please get in touch with us to discuss options with you.
Cancellations can be received up to 5 working days ahead of the event. A cancellation will only be valid if we have confirmed it with you. You can send somebody else in place of a booked delegate.
