Updates from Skills Development Scotland
Created: 07/07/2021With young people disproportionately affected by the impact of the pandemic and fewer employers developing their workforce through apprenticeships, it has never been more important to provide the right support at the right time.
Apprenticeships directly support the Scottish Government’s Young Person’s Guarantee, providing thousands of opportunities every year.
By supporting employers, Skills Development Scotland is helping to create more opportunities for young people. As well as Skills Development Scotland’s existing apprenticeship support for employers, new guidance has been developed to ensure businesses can make the most of apprenticeships.
The practical guides are aimed at any member of staff who is likely to be involved in recruiting and training an apprentice. It maps key aspects of building a successful apprenticeship programme – ranging from recruitment to training so that the journey is a rewarding and beneficial experience for everyone involved.
There is also an online resource available for employers delivering each type of apprenticeship: Foundation Apprenticeships, Modern Apprenticeships and Graduate Apprenticeships.
Also, Skills Development Scotland has partnered with mental health charity, Penumbra, to provide resources for both young people and employers.
