    Kingdom Community Bank (KCB) is Fife's largest credit union - a community-owned co-operative which provides savings and affordable loans to people who live or work in Fife. It has thousands of members and millions of pounds in assets, with exciting plans for growth in the coming months.

    KCB is looking to recruit a Loans Officer to join its team.  As Loans Officer you get to work closely with members to understand their circumstances and needs, make an objective assessment in line with policies and best practice and ensure that KCB provides affordable loans only when appropriate and in the member's best interest.

    Main Purpose of Post:

    To assess individual loan applications with prudent and responsible consideration using a variety of tools and techniques, such as affordability assessment, scoring, credit checking and other underwriting activities. To support the work of KCB and to promote its ethos.

    Main Duties:

    1. Deal with loan applications and all other loan related matters in an orderly and compliant manner, ensuring accurate and factual recording of all documentation and activity, whilst ensuring compliance with our timescales, Lending Policy and KCB's ethical and responsible lending practices.
    2. To have responsibility for the decision making on loans up to the value of your designated authority and in line with all relevant policies and procedures.
    3. Communicate with Members in relation to their loan applications whilst maintaining the highest levels of customer service, which will include telephone and face-to-face interviews on occasion.
    4. Deliver loan decisions in a timely and professional manner, including delivering decline decisions to Members verbally with a duty of care and sensitivity.
    5. Support Members to complete and submit accurate loan applications.
    6. Provide support for other areas of the office, as and when required by management.
    7. Ensure GDPR compliance and member confidentiality at all times.
    8. Promote and drive the values and ethics of the organisation.
    9. Undertake other suitable duties as directed by line management.

    Person Specification Essential requirements:

    1. Relevant professional qualification and/or relevant work experience.
    2. Certificate in Credit Union Principles and Practice OR a willingness to study towards it.
    3. Understanding of what makes a good loan.
    4. Ability to collate, summarise, interpret and present financial information verbally and in writing, with precision and accuracy.
    5. Experience of working to tight deadlines within a daily routine.
    6. Working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
    7. Experience in delivering high quality customer service.
    8. Willingness to learn; work as part of a team and to help others.
    9. Excellent interpersonal, oral, written, numeracy and ICT skills.
    10. Efficient, self-motivated, and proactive, with good organisational skills.
    11. Displays honesty, integrity and a strong sense of ethics in all actions and decisions.

    Desirable requirements:

    1. Experience of banking or financial services.
    2. Experience of working within the third sector.
    3. Driving Licence and access to a car.
