Gender Based Violence Online Learning Resources
Created: 30/06/2021Fife Violence Against Women Partnership has developed a guide on Gender Based Violence Online Learning Resources that are currently available for organisations to access:
Gender Based Violence: NHS Education for Scotland has a "Gender Based Violence" module on TURAS that's a broad introduction to GBV, but covers specific abusive behaviours, reporting and has lots of links to other resources. 2 hours, for all disciplines/staff groups (although refers to health workers at some points).
ACES and Trauma Resources: NHS Education for Scotland has a “Developing your trauma skilled practice”. Module on TURAS that's a
broad introduction to trauma and has lots of links to other resources. 2 hours, for all disciplines/staff groups
(although refers to health workers at some points).Trauma-Informed Practice video only.
Safe & Together Institute: The Safe & Together Institute is providing critical and useful information, and virtual options for training and support including:
Female Genital Mutation: The Home Office offers free training on female genital mutation “Recognising and Preventing FGM”. The course covers what FGM is; who is most at risk; health implications; taking action and finishes with case studies to work through. The course is recommended for frontline workers that would like an overview of FGM, although it is targeted at England and Wales it is still appropriate for Scottish Staff. Lasts approx 1.5-2 hours. Learners must make an account to register for the course.
Sexual Violence: IDAS offers FREE online “Sexual Violence Basic Awareness Training". This beginner’s training course is aimed at individuals in organisations and voluntary groups who work with adults to give a basic awareness of issues surrounding rape and sexual violence. Some of the content is area-specific however, many statistics look at the UK. Learners must make an account to register for the course.
Forced Marriage: The Home Office offers free training on "Awareness of Forced Marriage”. The course covers what forced marriage is; who is at risk; implications and taking action. The course is interactive throughout and participants can select their occupation for a personalised guide on how to deal with situations in your work. Recommended for frontline workers that would like an overview of Forced Marriage, there are links to Scotland-specific legislation. Lasts approx 1.5-2 hours. Learners must make an account to register for the course.
Modern Slavery: This UK Government resource is designed to increase awareness of forms of Modern Slavery including Commercial
Sexual Exploitation. No sign up is required, the course takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.
